Upon completion of this vital training you will be certified to facilitate a one hour in-person training designed to provide school staff with the NYS Suicide Prevention Office approved training "Suicide Safety for School Staff". You will also receive a set of training materials to use.

Train the Trainer: Suicide Safety for School Staff

This Train-the-Trainer workshop is designed to certify school personnel as a Suicide Safety for School Staff Trainer. Upon completion of the workshop, the trainer will have the ability to facilitate a one hour in-person training in schools that is designed to:

  1. Review the importance of suicide prevention in schools
  2. Describe the characteristics of an "at risk" student
  3. Outline a school staff member's critical but limited role and clarify a building level referral process
  4. Provide information about community resources

Ideal Candidates: Educators/ancillary staff in schools, and community-based prevention professionals who regularly educate students and school personnel. Previous training experience is critical.

Pre-Workshop Requirement: Trainer candidates are required to complete a two-hour online training, entitled, "Making Educators Partners in Youth Suicide Prevention: Act on Facts." This must be completed prior to July 10!
